Review: Gaia Pinot Noir Rosé
In Greek mythology, Gaia is a deity who is the ancestral mother of all life — the personification of earth. This is the inspiration Domaine Bousquet used for their Gaia brand of wines.
Domaine Bousquet honors that inspiration through their 100% organic viticulture. Their Tupungato vineyards are located in the high elevations of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina. The conditions in this region lend themselves to organic grape growing.
This wine is made from Pinot Noir, grown in sandy soils 4,000 feet above sea level. This elevation brings dramatic diurnal shifts in temperature, helping develop bright acidity in the grapes.
Tasting Notes
Orange zest, lemon, honeysuckle and subtle cranberry aromas give a pleasant nose to this wine. The flavors are nice and bright, thanks to vibrant acidity. It offers mostly lemony flavors with orange zest and salty minerals on the mid-palate and finish. It has a nice medium body to it with a pleasant mouthfeel. The finish is fairly long with salty lemon flavors lingering.
