Technically, summer may be over but it sure doesn’t feel like it. In the Cincinnati area, where I live, we’ll have temperatures in the 90’s this week for the first few days of October. These conditions demand summer wines, and so it shall be.

I’ve reviewed a couple other wines from Domaine Bousquet in the past few months and I really like what they’re doing. Their grapes are all farmed organically and they embrace sustainability from multiple angles, such as environmental sustainability, community sustainability and economic sustainability. They do all this and put their wines out at reasonable, affordable prices.

I love the tropical fruit aromas and flavors you can get from a sauvignon blanc, but sometimes it’s just over the top and too much. And some sauvignon blanc has too much of a cut green grass or a cat pee aroma. Yes, you read that correctly. Contrary to the drawbacks you can find in some sauvignon blanc, the Domaine Bousquest sauvignon blanc is one that offers some tropical fruit but it’s balanced and elegant. There’s none of those funky aromatics.

Lime, pineapple, apple, mango and flinty mineral aromas make the nose pleasant and sophisticated. On the palate it delivers super vibrant green apple, lime and lemon flavors. The mouthfeel is nice. The finish is fairly long with tart apple and saline flavors. I like this sauvignon blanc a lot and I love the price.
