Review: Pasqua, Romeo & Juliet Prosecco

I’ve reviewed a couple other wines from Pasqua recently, and one thing I haven’t mentioned is that these wines are brought to us in the US by Bronco Wine Company, the fourth largest wine company in the US. When it comes to bargain wines, the portfolios at Bronco are massive and filled with great deals. Pasqua is just one of them.

This wine is a Prosecco, which is a style of sparkling wine made in the Prosecco DOC in Italy. Most Prosecco, including this one, is made with the Charmat method of production, which differs from the Traditional method used for Champagne, Cava, Cremant and many other sparklers. In the Charmat method, the sparkling nature of the wine is created in pressurized steel tanks. This is a less-expensive process than the Traditional method, which is music to the ears of bargain-seekers like me.

It is produced as “brut,” meaning it is a dry sparkling wine.

The nose of this Prosecco offers green apple and lemon fragrances alongside almond and wet stone aromas. The palate is nice and tart, delivering bright green apple flavors as well some lemon and mineral. The mouthfeel is nice, with a touch of creaminess and an adequate amount of bubbles. It finishes clean, with a slight salinity.
