Review: Pasqua, 11 Minutes Rosé
My spring rosé reveling continues with a rosé from northern Italy. More specifically, it comes from the Lake Garda vicinity, which is not only a beautiful region but is also home to one of my favorite DOCs, Lugana. But, of course, I have many favorite DOCs.
The wine comes from a winery called Pasqua and is made with some native Italian grape varieties, corvina and trebbiano, along with some international varieties, syrah and carménère. The name, 11 minutes, is how long the winemaker keeps the juice in contact with the skins to give the wine it’s pink hue.
The aromatics from this wine are delightful. It displays nicely balanced floral aromas along with soft berry, banana and mineral notes. The palate is light, refreshing and really clean tasting, offering green apple and lemon up front, followed by a touch of spice and salty minerals on the finish. And that finish is quite long. The mouthfeel is nice too.
