Review: Marqués de Cáceres, Rosé
Lately, spring is springing up more and more each day. That means rosé season is upon us.
Imagine yourself sitting outside on a sunny, 70 degree day, relaxing with a slightly chilled glass of rosé and listening to the birds chirp. Now that’s my kind of spring day!
I’m kicking off the season with a Spanish rosé. This wine, from Marqués de Cáceres, is from the famous Rioja region of spain and like the red wine Rioja is most known for, this rosé is made of tempranillo and garnacha — but mostly tempranillo. And based on how delicious this is, I think I need to seek out more tempranillo rosé.
I love the nose on this wine, it offers beautiful peach, strawberry and floral aromas with just the right amount of intensity. The palate is bright and refreshing, delivering crisp lime, pear and peach flavors with a touch of strawberry that comes to life on the mid-palate and finish. It has a nice, mineral salinity as well, which lingers extensively on the finish. This is a stellar rosé.
