Flipflop Cabernet Sauvignon

Looking for an easy drinking cabernet sauvignon for the Fall?  Well look no further than Flipflop’s 2009.  We’ve recently reviewed Flipflop’s 2009 Pinot Noir and found it to be “pleasant”.  Their 2009 cabernet sauvignon takes the same approach with simple, straightforward fruit and just enough structure to keep things interesting.

This is Flipflop’s first year making cabernet sauvignon, and as with the pinot noir, there approach to wine making is to make friends first.  Like the pinot noir, there is absolutely nothing off-putting about this cabernet sauvignon either.  Then again, like the pinot noir, there isn’t anything here to distinguish the wine.  One could argue that there isn’t a lot of winemaking happening in the Flipflop cellars.  This is about as straightforward as it gets.

Flipflop Cabernet Sauvignon

There is plenty of blackberry fruit on the nose and palate, and the finish is mild with smooth, mild tannins and mild acidity.  Again, there isn’t much to write about here.  It’s wines like these that should make people who review wines worry, or, at the very least, think.  If all wines were like these, there would be no point in reviewing them.  How sad would that be?

A  Salute!

  1. Thank you for mentioning my review! I guess I should add that I don’t think flipflop wines are meant to be taken very seriously. These are fun, crowd-pleasing, party wines. Also, I can see them being “gateway” wines, especially at their price point. For example, I can see a non-wine drinker trying their Moscato, enjoying it and then possibly seeking out other Moscato’s. That being said, I do enjoy Flipflop’s line more than other wines at the same price point. I poured them for friends at my book club and they were fans.

  2. This is one of the worst cabs ever! I went to Top Foods to buy some Barefoot. There was no Barefoot, and in it’s place was Flip Flop! So I bought that thinking maybe it would be close to as good as Barefoot (which is a totally awesome wine). No way! Flip Flop is like Swill compared to Barefoot.

  3. Your a total moronic being that should never evvvvvver put your input about wine, thinking that BAREFOOT is awesome!? Just so you know barefoot is the SWILL it’s the shit of shit. There is no aging to the wine it is not cask of any sort . It’s a bunch of crap grapes, combined, mashed, with a couple cups of sugar, thrown into a bottle, and sold to dip shits like you. Working in a wine boutique for as long as I have, I had to deal with sooooo many drunken whores who didn’t know anything about wine so just please shut your mouth and find something you actually know about. I’ve waited 3 years to speak to someone like you about this! God it feels good to finally tell a moron off.
