I've had all of the Layer Cake wines and although slightly untraditional in composition (no Grenache) this is very much a food wine. It's tough to truly evaluate the dimension and layers of a wine with no cuisine. We made dinner for six two months ago and served the Layer Cake Cotes du Rhone with grilled flank steaks, seared polenta batons and wilted greens served family style. The wine flowed freely and worked so nicely with the grilled steaks...plus it's affordable which made me and my wife happy, but, moreover our guests raved for a week in thank you emails. MUST HAVE MORE
